State v. Sorenson
State v. Sorenson, 2023 UT App 159 (Oliver, J.)
Criminal
A criminal defendant was tried for possessing a dangerous weapon as a restricted person. On appeal the defendant argued that the trial court had improperly denied his motion to bifurcate the dangerous weapon portion of the charge from the restricted person element. The Utah Court of Appeals affirmed the ruling, holding:
- The trial court did not abuse its discretion when it denied the motion to bifurcate because bifurcation is not required.
