Appellate Attorney

I chose to pursue a career in appeals because it’s important that our system of justice is fair and accountable. And the appellate process works as an important check on the administration of justice in a legal system that is not immune from occasional error, oversight, or unfairness.

I first discovered my affinity for appellate advocacy during law school where I worked and interned at several appellate-centered law offices. It was through those experiences that my legal and persuasive writing skills evolved, which earned me the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in my appellate practice course. Before joining The Appellate Group, I clerked for Judge Ryan D. Tenney on the Utah Court of Appeals and developed a sense for how appellate courts consider briefs and oral arguments. Together, the insights from these experiences (among others) help inform my approach and philosophy to each appeal.

Before law school, I received a BA in Sociology from Colorado College. In my spare time I can be found hiking or skiing in the mountains, playing tennis or sand volleyball, cooking vegetarian meals, or sneaking up on uncooperative weeds in my garden.
