I am a practicing attorney in Utah, and I have used The Appellate Group to assist on some of my cases that needed an extra eye with appellate experience. Freyja Johnson wrote 2 different memoranda for me in a murder case. One memo tackled the foundational deficiencies in the State's bloodspatter expert's report. There were many factual issues she had to master from the preliminary hearing transcript to apply a 702 analysis to exclude or limit the expert's "junk" science opinions. The writing was persuasive. The second memo was a Tiederman motion for dismissal based on the destruction of the weapon that was the instrument inflicting death to the deceased. Again, the brief writing was excellent. Freyja stayed in touch with me to be sure she was addressing all the issues I thought should be covered. Her memoranda were completed on time.

I called regarding a potential appeal that I knew would be a long shot, especially since there was no money to fund it. The Appellate Group spent more time that I expected discussing the issue with me and provided many helpful recommendations and resources. If there is ever a case in the future that I think would be better suited to take up on appeal and is properly funded, I would definitely put The Appellate Group at the top of my list.
